Biography
Since 1963, Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen has created fine jewelry inspired by nature. From high-end special pieces to exclusive fine jewelry collections intertwining playfulness and timeless elegance. Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen creates everlasting investment pieces tributing the wonders of nature and the poetry of life. It all begins in the creative corners of the designers’ minds. Ideas are brought to life as playful drawings and experimental sculptures, as Ole and Charlotte Lynggaard bring old traditions and new techniques together. Every piece of fine jewelry is handcrafted with utmost precision and dedication. For decades, the company has also been Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court.
Brand founder, Ole Lynggaard, was born in 1936. Hugely inspired by nature, as well as midcentury art and architecture, Ole Lynggaard always knew that he would follow a creative vocation. He was inspired to become a goldsmith by his parents, who owned two fine jewelry stores. Determined to improve his talent as craftsman and designer, Ole Lynggaard spent five years travelling, working and educating his way around the globe. He studied precious metal-shaping in the jewelry design metropolis Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany, and experienced the contrasting cultures of places like Paris, New York, San Francisco, Egypt, Japan, China and Thailand before returning to Denmark to marry his wife of over 50 years and to found his eponymous company in 1963. Ole Lynggaard’s fascination with the organic movements and graphic elegance of animals is well-known from his coveted fauna designs. Still actively designing innovative fine jewellery collections, the brand founder shows perpetual commitment to his trade. The heart of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is a passionate family devoted to creativity, craftsmanship – and each other. Ole Lynggaard’s daughter, Charlotte Lynggaard, is Designer and Creative Director. His son, Søren Lynggaard, is CEO. Together they carry on the Danish design traditions joined by the third Lynggaard generation.
